Knoxville Police Looking For Suspects Involved In Deadly Shooting Early Sunday Near Cherry Street
A woman has died after a shooting in the area of 5th Avenue and N. Cherry Street. The victim has been identified as Rekia Kinnebrew.

Investigators are still searching for suspects.

At around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, officers with the Knoxville Police Department responded to gunshots heard near the area of 5th Ave. and N. Cherry St.

While checking the area, they discovered one victim at 401 S. Cherry St.

According to the preliminary investigation, several people had been involved in an earlier alternation at another location. Police say the argument escalated when the suspect allegedly fired multiple times at the victims, hitting one female victim. The victim died from her injuries just after 5 p.m. Sunday evening.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time and police say they are following several leads.
