Two People Arrested in Blount County After Deputies Say They Robbed Man At Gunpoint At His Mentor Road Home

Two people have been arrested in Blount County after deputies say they robbed a man at gunpoint at his Mentor Road home.

Blount County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area around 12:30 p.m. Monday on reports of suspicious activity. The witnesses told deputies they saw two people in ski masks running back to a Toyota Scion parked near a business on Mentor Road.

Deputies searched the area and found a car matching the witnesses' description. They followed it to Pellissippi Parkway, where they stopped it near Cusick Road. The deputies interviewed the two in the car, later identified as 22-year-old Austin Dixon of Maryville and 20-year-old Katelen Shepherd of Louisville, and also found the clothing and ski masks matching what witnesses described. BCSO said they also found a handgun and a box of prescription pills.

Back on Mentor Road, deputies said they found a 59-year-old man who told them two people broke into his home and robbed him at gunpoint. BCSO said Shepherd later admitted to participating in the incident.

Dixon was arrested on 28 charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. He was released Tuesday morning on a $225,000 bond and will face those 28 charges in court on Feb. 28.

Shepherd is still behind bars on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. She is being held on a $150,000 bond and will also be in court Feb. 28.
